Honoring Lt Col William B. Selber (Ret.)
Lt Col William B. Selber (Ret.) is more than a distinguished Air Force officer—he is a true servant leader whose impact continues well beyond his military service.
From 2021 to 2023, he commanded a small intelligence squadron of 240 Airmen and civilians, supporting global ISR missions. Despite the demanding pace, he built a close-knit, high-performing team through authentic leadership, approachability, and a deep respect for every individual.
His legacy includes a powerful commitment to mental health, moral injury awareness, and veteran well-being. Alongside Kate K., he co-created a safe space for active-duty members and veterans to share their stories without fear or stigma. His openness helped many, including me, find the strength to seek support.
I will never forget being reenlisted by him on the historic battlefields of Fredericksburg—nor running the Marine Corps Historic Half together. These moments capture the heart of who he is: a leader who inspires, uplifts, and never leaves anyone behind.
Today, Lt Col Selber continues to serve as an advocate for Afghan allies through platforms like AAVA and Grumpy Combat Vet. His voice, grounded in lived experience, ensures those who stood beside us in combat are not forgotten.
His story is a testament to compassionate leadership, resilience, and enduring service to others.”
